Waveguide antennas for Wireless Communication

As in telecom, new generation satellites are starting to use higher frequency bands to offer higher bandwidth to users. Terminals for these new satellites need antenna technology with waveguide technology to achieve high performance. Gapwaves’ unique waveguide technology enable this high performance, while being cost effective.

In 2023, Gapwaves participated in two research projects within satellite communication, the first addressing antennas for satellite communications at higher frequencies, where a demonstrator was completed. Together with Satcube, Chalmers University of Technology and Forsway Scandinavia, a next generation satellite terminal has been developed. Gapwaves has designed and manufactured a prototype antenna, and developed a demonstrator together with Chalmers regarding a circular polarized satcom terminal.
